What better way to raise money for two vital charities than to spend a day at Billing Aquadrome keeping fit and having fun?

We like to get involved at LTS, so when we heard about the planned event through our Commercial Director Dave Hands, we sent along a truck and trailer to provide a home for the live band.

Dave’s connection with the event was a bit more intense! If you can keep a secret, we’ll tell you that he has an ‘alter ego’ – he’s also known as Zumba Dave, or Dave the Zumba guy! He’s a qualified Zumba and Bokwa instructor, and has been teaching classes for over five years now.

Zumba is a dance fitness programme created in Colombia during the 1990s, combining Latin and International music with a fun and effective workout system. Bokwa came onto the scene a little more recently – it’s a group exercise activity where participants draw letters and numbers with their feet while performing cardio workout routines – designed to suit all ages!

The Zumbathon charity event at Billing Aquadrome was held in aid of the Children’s Air Ambulance and Diabetes UK, and was an action-packed day bringing together hundreds of people who joined in the Zumba, Bokwa and Aqua Zumba routines – many of which were led by Dave and a team of committed instructors.

Dave tells us that it’s a terrific, fun way to keep really fit, meet new friends and, in this case, raise a significant amount of money for two really deserving charities. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
